Au Pair of the Year Contest
Annually thousands of young people from all over the world embark on a special journey by becoming au pairs. Leaving behind the familiarity of their homeland for as long as one year, au pairs travel to distant countries, where they are welcomed into another culture as a part of their host family.
Each year Au Pair International will select one au pair amidst all nominees to become our Au Pair of the Year. In addition, we will select three nominees to be submitted to the National IAPA Au Pair of the Year contest where he/she will compete against other outstanding au pairs from around the world!
Nominating your au pair for this prestigious award is a wonderful way to give him/her much deserved recognition and credit for being an exceptional caregiver and invaluable part of your family!

2014 Contest Information
Nominee Eligibility
The nomination is an essay written by you, the host family, describing the characteristics that make your au pair exceptional.
Entries should be returned to our office no later than Friday, January 10th 2014, midnight CET.
The young person being nominated for the award must have been an au pair during the 2013 year.
Additional Information
We are looking for compelling reasons why you believe your au pair is exceptional.
Host family essays will be judged by a selection panel appointed by Au Pair International. To ensure fairness and objectivity by the selection panel(s), the names of the au pair and the host family will not appear on contest entries.
Host family essays will be rated and three au pair finalists selected (these finalists will also be submitted for the IAPA Au Pair of the Year Contest. See below for details). In order to qualify each finalist must write in their own words a short essay detailing his/her own au pair experience. The essay does not need to be in English.
All contest entries will become property of Au Pair International, including rights to edit and publish the material.
The winning au pair will receive:
- An IPad!
- A framed commemorative certificate recognizing their prestigious title!
- A framed copy of the nomination letter written by the au pair's host family!
- Recognition on the Au Pair International Website as the Au Pair of the Year!
In order for your au pair to be eligible for the award, you may be required to provide verification of the essays content.
The winning au pair will be notified by Au Pair International.
IAPA Au Pair of the Year Contest - Additional Information
Three select Au Pair nominees will be submitted to the annual IAPA Au Pair of the Year Contest at the discretion of Au Pair International.
Submitted host family essays will be judged by a selection panel appointed by the International Au Pair Association. To ensure fairness and objectivity by the selection panel(s), the names of the au pair and the sending/receiving organisation/s will not appear on contest entries.
Host family essays will be rated and three au pair finalists selected amongst all agency entries. In order to qualify each finalist must then write in their own words a short essay detailing his/her own au pair experience. The essay does not need to be in English.
All contest entries will become property of the International Au Pair Association, including rights to edit and publish the material.
The winning au pair will be required, all expenses paid, to attend the Association's 19th Annual Conference where he/she will be presented with a token prize and commemorative award.
In order for your au pair to be eligible for the award, you may be required to provide verification of the essays content.
The winning au pair will be notified by IAPA.
