We are thrilled to announce the winners of our Host Family of the Year Contest!
Each year, Au Pair International is proud to hold this contest to acknowledge all our program participants. Nominated by their au pairs, each host family has enthusiastically embraced this unique cultural exchange opportunity, welcoming a young person into their lives as an extended member of their family. We would like to offer immense congratulations to the following host families who have epitomized the essence of what the au pair program is all about: cultural exchange.
Congratulations to the Galano Family of New York, our 2016 Host Family of the Year!
The Galano Family was nominated by their au pair for this award because they have gone above and beyond, to ensure that she has had a wonderful American experience. From making her feel like a big sister to their children to introducing her to friends and family, the Galano family embraces the cultural exchange program to its fullest! From listening to her talk about her fears and concerns, the Galano Family has truly made her feel comfortable and safe in their home. In addition to their recognition as Host Family of the Year, they will also be receiving a $500 credit to be used toward their program fees! Congratulations!
Congratulations To Our 2 Second Place Winners!
The Dowd Family of Vermont - Nominated By Nadia G. From Bolivia
The Dowd family has always embraced the true meaning of the cultural exchange program by respecting the differences they have with their au pairs and always being patient with them. They include their au pair in all their family activities and meals, and love sharing American culture with her. They take interest in her life and always ask about how she is feeling. As our previous Host Family of the Year, the Dowd family is no stranger to this contest! WAY TO GO on being nominated again and placing second. You truly are a fantastic host family!
The Waldron/Yoshimura Family - Nominated By Ai S. from Japan
Not only has the Waldron/Yoshimura family exposed Ai to all different aspects of American culture, they have also shown her the true meaning of being a caregiver. Through their kindness and attentiveness to their children, she has learned about their character and how important it is to be a responsible and caring role-model! They have included her in family gatherings on holidays, and provided her the opportunity to get to know family members outside of the nuclear family. Thank you for truly making Ai feel at home!
